BG Puffy Hollow Mandrel 2mm
2 mm
NEW STOCK! With the 2mm Puffy Hollow Mandrel you can make hollow beads and also shards. The small hole on one side allows you to form the bead around the hole by creating regular wall discs on either side of the hole, as you would have done in the usual fashion. When the symmetrical disks are formed, bring their edges together using a graphite paddle making sure to patch over any holes that may be in the glass. Heat the glass to be pliable and gently blow thorough the cool end of the mandrel to form the shape. Dipping Method:to dip the end of the Puffy Mandrel that has the side blown hole in the bead release well past the side hole, just as you would a regular mandrel. Place your finger over the dipped end of the mandrel and gently blow through the other end to clear out the bead release from the side blow hole in the hollow mandrel... leaving the dipped end of the mandrel tube plugged so that the dipped end is sealed.Th create shards: Blow the walls 'super' thin and then you can break up the bead to use as shards. Another method is to uniformly blow the glass thin and then pop it by blowing in extra air. Here are two excellent videos that illustrates the process. BG Round Cabochon Mandrel 31.5mm
12.7 x 25.4mm
Presently out of stock..Round 'Face' Cabochon Mandrel 31.5mm or 1.25" Diameter....... TUTORIAL: Dip the mandrel inside the bead release container and spin or tap inside the container to remove excess release with a smooth layered application left on the mandrel. A kitchen spoonful of release can also be used for this process, then use the back of the spoon to spread the release evenly on the cab. It is best to air dry these mandrels rather than flame drying to prevent the release from cracking, then slowly heat in the flame as well as the front where the glass is to be applied, making certain you have the mandrel hot enough for the glass to stick. If you don't have the glass adhered to the mandrel it may come off if you turn it upside down. Keep adding glass, while pushing. Be careful not to pull your glass away from the cabochon. If you want to remove the rod, then use the heat to cut the glass, never pull. Anneal in the usual way. The cab can be removed by twisting and lifting.

BG BUTTON MAKER MANDREL FOR TWO HOLE OR FOUR HOLE
4 x 1.6mm mandrels x 27cm long
This is the easiest tool to use for making buttons, either 2 holes or 4 holes. Adjustable separator to make bigger or smaller buttons and removable stainless mandrels 1.6mm x 27cm long to create 2 or 4 hole buttons, and can be transferred into the kiln. To make only two holes, take out two mandrels. To create smaller buttons, push the disks closer together so your button holes will be closer toward the center of your button. To create bigger buttons, pull the disks farther apart and the mandrels widen in the center. This moves your button holes further apart.MINI TUTORIAL:Once the button maker is assembled, coat the mandrels in a deep jar with bead release. Bead release will go over the end button guide if you plan to make the button in the middle of the guides. That's ok. You can also paint the release on with a brush. Allow to dry. With a 4 hole button, it is best to use stringers to get your glass inside the mandrels. You don't have to make your button between the button guides. You can make your button on the end of the mandrels. But you will still need to insert both button guides onto the mandrels to keep them steady. For button holes farther apart than the button guides, you will need to make your button in between the guides and spread the guides apart.....
