These lusters create a holographic shimmer under encasement,or a sparkly color shifting intense color when left on the surface of your beads....................... by JetAge Studio are specialty color shifting, heat resistant metal oxide powders and flakes that work glittery magic in lampworked glass, and a multitude of other mediums. They are rated to resist heat up to about 1400F, and don't have a specific coefficent. Similar to Dichroic Extract powder, they shift color and throw off a lot of shine. The larger particle sizes create a lot of sparkle that you cant get from micas, and give quite a different effect from powdered extract. They're also a great cost effective alternative to dichroic coatings and are more heat tolerant than regular powdered micas............................................ For lampworking: Simply take a small amount of powder or flake out of the container and place on a heat resistant surface. Roll molten glass over the flakes/powders, shape and encase. Once encased, you’re good to go, and add additional embellishments,then garage as usual.......... Handy Hints: Avoid direct exposure of the flakes/or powders to the flame, as the heat tends to burn out part of the color..... Work back in the cooler part of the flame,if the lusters seem to peel off the base glass while smearing on the encasement glass, you probably have put too much of the lusters on in that spot, or the base glass wasn’t hot enough to get them adhered properly.... Like micas,if unencased, some flake will brush off after cooling, but the particles that stick will leave a color shifting glimmer.... Any luster left over from your bead can simply be placed back into the little jar for next time using the Steel Micro Spoons and the Small Lumiere Lusters™ Working Container Funnel, see available listed below..................................................There are some additional tips on Leah's blog: https://leahbeads.com/tools-supplies/lumiere-lusters-review/ ................................ Lumiere Lusters™ are also incredibly versatile and work extremely well with other mediums. Because they're heat resistant, they work exceptionally well with polymer clays and add intense color and shimmer to your pieces (see examples at the bottom of the page). Simply rub the powders/flakes on the surface of raw clay before baking. You can also add these powders to resin projects or transparent paint mediums. 	Presently out of stock...This three sided container is made of stainless steel, and is perfect for working the lusters. Simply put the amount you need in there for working into glass. It is heat safe and will help to keep the flakes and powders in check while working with them. When done, angle the container's open end downward at the corner and scrape the rest of the luster back into the jar. Handy!
