| Hemostats are used for making pendants,shank buttons and off-mandrel sculptures. These hemostats have a longer shaft and ideal to hold and rotate.Method for Button making:
These buttons will have a wire loop back/shank made from copper or stainless wire. Begin with a small U-Shape piece of wire, then clamp the hemostat onto the bend of the U-shape. This becomes a handle to work with. holding the hemostats by the shaft and turning, melt a small amt. of glass onto the wire to begin a small gather for the button. Another method to make a button is to make a small gather (shown in the tutorial) on the end of a punty... heat IT and using the Hemostats (to hold the wire )press onto the premade and shaped wire back...then tidy the shape as needed.
